Hi all,
unlike -infile- for free-format files (help infile1), the
commands -infix- and -infile- for fixed-format files (help
infile2) do not seem to be affected by the value of the
default storage type (-set type float|double-): They just
produce floats unless alternative storage types are explicitly
specified in the dictionary.

Does anyone know the rationale behind this?

I think it would be realy useful to be able to change the default
type for infix/infile2!
