You sound like me, Erin, always trying to figure out how to do things in Stata that you can do in your sleep in SPSS. Not that Stata is harder, it is just less familiar.

Check out the SW (stepwise) command, which includes a hierarchical option. However, you may be better off just specifying a series of models using separate commands, being careful that your case selection does not change because of differing amounts of missing data as you go along. Also, it doesn't look like SW works with areg, but based on your previous message I am not sure areg is what you want anyway.
