I have been having problems using cut-and-paste to copy
Stata graphs to Word or Excel. I am getting help from Tech
Support. However, duplication the problem on your test
machines has been difficult. I am running W98, 800 x 600,
with 128MB ram and a NVIDA video card.
We recently changed Stata 8 to copy files to the clipboard in EMF format
rather than WMF format which we had used in the past. We switched to EMF
because the WMF format appears to have problems with filled polygons which
is what we use to graph confidence intervals (among other things).
Unfortunately, it appears that the EMF format was not introduced to Windows
until Windows 98 SE so it doesn't work in Windows 98 and earlier. We'll
make the clipboard format settable between WMF and EMF but I suggest you
export your graph to a file in WMF format until we put out an update. This
however does not fix the problem with filled polygons but we're still
investigating this limitation with the WMF format.
