Many thanks Daniel!  I am sure this will be useful to many
programmers.  I would like to report to the list that an earlier
version of this, posted by Daniel above, worked fine for a relatively
small program I wrote, and correctly picked  out the 9 user-written
files being called (out of 27 in my adopath).
