Hello Statalisters,

How is it possible to adjust the widths of the
columns in the "Variables" window?

My variables have short names (x1,x2,x3) and
I want to see variable labels without loosing
too much space for whitespace. I guess it was
possible in the older versions of Stata or
the width of the variable-name-column was
somewhat smaller, see e.g. this screenshot
from version 5:
http://www.princeton.edu/~erp/stata/log03_window.gif

I guess currently it is fixed to fit the full-
length variable name of 32 symbols, e.g.
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz012345 fits exactly
but it is an overkill -- many variable names
are shorter.

So, which two bytes can one change in wsestata.exe
to get it done (if it is not possible to do it
with menus and configs)?

Thank you,
 Sergiy
