st: variance of the residual

dear statalisters,
 i want to decompose the variance of the residuals (that i got from a 
regression) into bwithinn beetwen and total; this has to be for groups 
and by year; so since i have 20 groups i should have 20 values for the 
Within B and Total variance for each year.
can you suggest me somothing?
