Thank you, Scott.  I had been thinking of exploring the avenue of
adding to the title margin based on the relative digit length of the y
axis labels.  You have demonstrated that it can be done.  I am now
considering how this may be done more abstractly so that title margins
can be returned by an ado for two or more graphs that one intends to
-combine- in either row or col orientation.

I note you used ytitle(, margin(0 `diff'  0 0 )) and I have just
demonstrated that yscale(titlegap(`diff')) will produce the same
result.

Also, thank you for tipping me to the undocumented _natscale - it will
prove to be useful.
