Stata is smart, but development of the editor is not high on their priority list.
There are however many editors that can handle do-files and sent it to Stata,
add pretty colors to Stata commands, multiple undos and redos, every fancy
search tool you can dream of, can select blocks instead of lines, etc. etc.
