Thank you, Bill, for your clarifications. I think it would be great if
the colon operators be speed optimized. This would prevent users like me
from trying to do the optimization themselves, which is really a waste
of time.
In my "real application" we are talking about an increase in execution
time of about 20%. This somewhat matters to me, since I do simulations
(i.e. the 20% may easily translate to an hour or so).
