st: Effect of two sequential save commands with different filenames

If you execute the commands
"save file1"
"save file2"

and then proceed to make changes to file 2 (like generating
variables), are all these (subsequent) changes automatically made to
file1?

I executed this series of commands and this seems to have happened to me.
