You bet that this is frowned on by others, 
even if you have Excel. 

This is not only a very round-about way 
to do it: there is a real risk of losing 
precision, not to mention associated
information. 

Forgive the repeated advert, but -savesome- 
gives the user a one-line Stata solution
for this need.
