But will it also convert "Amerika" to "United States"? :-)

Thanks to Kit Baum, -kountry- is now available from SSC. kountry standardizes
names of countries from various datasets. For example, the codes 2 (COW code),
111 (IMF), 840 (UN Stats), and the names United States of America, U.S.A., USA,
U.S., US, UNITED STATES, etc., lower or upper case, with or without the definite
article "the", will all be converted to "United States". The command makes it
easier to merge data sets that use different codes and names to identify the
same countries.

In Stata, use the -ssc install kountry- command to install the package.

Comments and suggestions most welcome!
