st: Selecting observations using another file/datset

Hi,
Is there an easy way of keeping only the observations in one file (table) 
that are present in another file?
For example, if I have a file with date, names, height and weigth

date names height weight
1     Ann ... ...
2    Ann ... ...
.... ...
T Ann ... ...
1  Bob ... ...
2 Bob ... ...
...

and I want to keep only the observations for the names that are listed in a 
separate file, can I do this without using the merge command?
I would appreciate your help on this.
