Oops
I just checked the top 500 list of supercomputers and there is an Opteron
system on the list. I missed it because I only looked at the top 5 before.
At least in supercomputing, the Apple/G5 is way ahead of the Opteron:
#3 2200 Apple/G5 CPUs - max 10.3 TFlops, peak 17.6 TFlops
#6 2816 Opteron CPUs - max 8.1 TFlops, peak 11.3 TFlops
