Thanks to Kit Baum, a new package -lambda- 
has been posted on SSC, which cross-tabulates 
two variables and treats them as nominal variables for
calculation of Goodman and Kruskal's 
lambda measures of association (JASA 1954). 

Stata 8 is required.
