st: simulation - variable number using <simul>

Dear listers
I'm performing a simulation study which postfile has 48 variables.
When it was done in Stata 6 there was no problem, but under Stata 7 I
receive a message "too many variables specified".
Is there a limit (of variables) to do that in Stata 7? What is it?
