using the command outreg, the standard errors (and any other values in
parentheses) actually have a negative sign in front? Sending the regression
output to a word document or txt document is fine, but does not work equally
with an Excel file. Is there a solution to that?

Excel is interpreting the numbers in parentheses as a negative number. Use
the -noparen- option.
