As signalled a short while ago, the Statalist FAQ has been
revised, largely to take account of the advent of Stata 8.
It is accessible, as from every other Statalist posting,
from a URL below.

Despite a few deletions, it keeps growing slowly!

For a fair while, we have had the habit of not naming
authors of sections of the FAQ, largely because several
people have had a go at writing bits and pieces over
the years. Nevertheless, at the risk of being a little
arbitrary, some names spring to mind as having had
a major share, and they deserve thanks from time to
time.

Taking names in inverse alphabetical order allows
me to start with

	David Wormuth, who started Statalist;

	Marcello Pagano, who does more nitty-gritty
	work behind the scenes than anyone imagines;

	Ken Higbee, who did most of the initial
	conversion to HTML;

	Bill Gould, who wrote some very large
	chunks;

	Lisa Gilmore, who puts up, and puts up
	with, all sorts of intermittent major
	and minor revisions;

	Kit Baum, for the SSC side of the FAQ
	and several other good ideas besides.
