Hi,

Stata do-file-editor is limited to a maximum number of characters (32 000). Is it possible (how?) to change this setting?
IMHO, the best way is probably to use a different editor (eg PFE or TextPad) for editing Stata do-files.

In my system, the .do extension is associated with TextPad, so that, if I click on a Stata do-file, then it is not run, but it is opened in TextPad. I can then launch Stata from inside TextPad, using the Tools menu provided by TextPad. In the past, I have done the same with PFE, which is nearly as good as TextPad, and which is free.

For information on the various alternative editors to use with Stata do-files, Peter might like to refer to the Web page on this subject at

I hope this helps.

Roger
