Thanks once again, Dirk. I think I have never read the manual entry on
function keys before. This might be useful in other situations, too.

Defining the globals and running my profile.do allows me to insert the
braces, when working with the command line. However in the do-file
editor I cannot use the function keys to produce the braces, so a
solution from Stata Corp. is still very needed.
