Funny, when I wrote my answer the dialog boxes completely
slipped my mind. It is not that I believe they are bad, I 
just never use those.  The point is, there is more than 
one way of doing these things. Choose whatever works for 
you, as long as you make sure that your work is 
reproducable, i.e. that you can come back to what you have 
done 5 years from now, understand what you did, and 
reproduce your results.

So:

- you could use the dialog boxes, as long as your final 
graph was created using "submit", and than coppied into 
your .do file.

- you could use the graph editor, record your changes 
and than inside your .do file use the -play()- option 
(-help play_option-) in your -graph- command, together 
with some comments on what is happening inside the 
-play- option.

- you could write the .do file yourself (with the help 
of the help files).
