You may also like to take a look at Stata`s own approach to this problem:
When run in batch mode, "Stata calculates this percentage from the
number of characters in the do-file, so the percentage may not accurately
reflect the amount of time left for the job to complete.)". See [GSW], page

Dear statalisters, 

I am running a program for quite a while now, and I wanted to know if there
is some command that can show you how much time your running program has
left/the progress that it has made so far (67% done for instance).
