Should work perfectly, but doesn't always. Win 7 has been
very fickle about file extensions. (And why does one of my
Win 7 machines insist on assigning Adobe icons to Stata files?)
And more, it does not allow you to assign actions to the context
menu. So that whereas in XP I could tell Stata to open every data
file as an argument to profile.do, that is not possible in Win 7.
However, with the utility I mentioned, problem solved.
On the other hand, Win 7 is more robust than 64bit XP, and so
for those who want to analyze large datasets using Stata in a
Windows environment, it is worth the upgrade.

Jeph

Hua`s earlier advice
http://www.stata.com/statalist/archive/2010-03/msg01534.html does work
perfectly, though, both under Windows 7 and Vista.
