I run 64bit Stata on 64bit XP, and haven't had any issues;
the machine has 16GB Ram and I have used datasets larger than
10gb with no problem.

But you will need 64bit XP (or Vista). Some XP-32 applications
don't run, but the important ones do.

hope this helps,
Jeph

Dear all,

I would like to ask you an information regarding stata 64bit because
we have to deal with very large dataset. We would like to buy stata 64
bit. There are two versions of STATA 64bit, one for windows (XP or
vista), one for Linux. We heard that the linux version is more
efficient in dealing very large amount of ram. Is that true? Is there
a so big difference? May you suggest us something? Because for us it
would be easier to buy stata for windows...
