The majordomo software running Statalist sometimes
eats the first line of postings. This can be sometimes
be embarrassing. Consider the posting

-----------------------------------------
This program is really welcome, but I noticed a few mistakes.
There is an error ...
-----------------------------------------

So, what people bitten by this misfeature sometimes
do is add a first line of garbage, which they don't mind
being eaten. That's the sacrifice. Nothing to do with
television.

I will break the protocol with this email, but
where is sacrificial-joke come from?
I haven't seem 'too much' TV last weeks.
