The manual entry at [D] destring makes clearer than 
the on-line help that -destring- is essentially 
for variables that should be numeric, but have 
ended up as string, usually through some 
misunderstanding (or MicroSoftunderstanding). 

Perhaps the on-line help should be tweaked to 
make this clearer, as the point is often 
misunderstood by those who don't read the manual.
