m4_solvers describes Mata functions. Mata was introduced in Stata 9.0, so you are out of luck. Since it is linear, can't you formulate your data/problem so that you can just use regress? The standard errors will be missing, but as long as you can arrange your equations so that you have variance in your "dependent" variable, it may work.

Hi guys!
Does anyone know if Stata 8.2 has the m4_solvers command? I have to solve a
linear equation system, but my Stata doesn't recognize the command, I have
to install it or stata 8.2 just don't have it?
