(1) Create a dvi:
> latex mytex.tex
(2) Convert the dvi into a pdf:
> dvipdfm mytex.dvi
Then you will end up with a file called mytex.pdf. I don't know which
editor you use to create the LaTeX documents, but it should be
possible to configure it so that this compilation sequence becomes
available via a Menu or via a keyboard shortcut (or maybe it is
already there).
