First announcement and Call for Presentations

The fourth North American Stata Users Group meeting will be
held on July 11-12, 2005 in Boston, Massachusetts, at the
Longwood Galleria Conference Center.

The first day of the meeting, which will showcase user
presentations, is being organized by a committee chaired by
Rich Goldstein, consultant ([email protected]).  The
second day is being organized by StataCorp; there will
probably be two presentations, one by Bill Gould and one not
yet decided on.

Previous Stata Users Group meetings have been held in Boston
(2001, 2003 and 2004), Britain, Ireland, Spain, Germany, and
the Netherlands.  Anyone interested in Stata, regardless of
level of expertise or geographic location, is invited to
attend.  The meeting will include the ever-popular Wishes
and Grumbles session where users make comments and
suggestions to Stata Corp.


DAY 1
-----

The organizing committee seeks 10 minute or 20 to 25-minute
Stata-related presentations, each followed by five, or 10,
minutes of discussion (for total presentation lengths of 15
and 30 minutes).  Presentations may be on any topic related
to the use of Stata in research or teaching in any field,
for example:

 Using Stata for modeling and analysis
 User-written Stata programs
 Case studies using Stata in research or teaching
 Using Stata to import and manage data
 Using Stata for graphics
 Teaching Stata -- we are particularly interested in this
 Teaching statistics with Stata -- we are interested in this
 Surveys or critiques of Stata facilities in specific fields
 Software comparisons

Day 2
-----

Being organized by StataCorp; topics will be announced at a
later date. Bill Gould, President of StataCorp will be one
of the speakers.

Submission information:
-----------------------

Please submit an abstract of your presentation (200 words
maximum, ASCII text, no math symbols) through
http://www.repec.org/nasug2005 by April 30, 2005.  Please
indicate the presentation length you prefer (10 or 20-25
minutes) when you submit your abstract.  Conference fees
will be waived for the presenters (one waiver per talk).

Please provide, in electronic form, any materials related to
your presentation (slides and programs/datasets, where
applicable) to the organizing committee before the meeting,
so that they can be posted on StataCorp's web site and in
the Stata Users Group RePEc archive.
