An alternative that might work in some situations: If you want to share ado

Not so; -profile.do- is implemented automatically.
Once people have the right -profile.do- the problem

What would be in the profile.ado to allow automatic updating of all files?
sysdir set SITE J:\nd.edu\userx\mynetid\statsclass
All your shared ado files can be placed in this folder (i.e. there is just
one copy of these programs in a central location). See -help sysdir-
I suppose you could also have install commands in your profile.do, but it
seems like that could be a lot of overhead to have those run every time you
start Stata. Perhaps instead have an ado file that you ran periodically to
make sure your favorite programs were up to date.
