Stata 15 help for mf_st_ms_unab

Title

[M-5] st_ms_unab() -- Unabbreviate matrix stripe elements

Syntax

void st_ms_unab(spec)

real scalar _st_ms_unab(spec)

real scalar _st_ms_unab(spec, noisily)

where

spec: string scalar noisily: real scalar

Description

st_ms_unab(spec) unabbreviates spec by using the variable names in the current dataset, updating the contents of spec.

_st_ms_unab(spec) is equivalent to st_ms_unab(spec) except that it quietly returns a Stata return code if there was a parsing error or an ambiguous abbreviation.

_st_ms_unab(spec, noisily) is equivalent to _st_ms_unab(spec) except that a parsing error or an ambiguous abbreviation will cause Stata to report an error message if noisily is neither zero nor missing.

Conformability

st_ms_unab(spec): spec: 1 x 1 result: void

_st_ms_unab(spec): spec: 1 x 1 result: 1 x 1

_st_ms_unab(spec, noisily): spec: 1 x 1 noisily: 1 x 1 result: 1 x 1

Diagnostics

All of these functions abort with an error if any of the arguments are malformed. noisily indicates whether Stata is to report an error message when spec cannot be parsed or for ambiguous abbreviations.
