Why do I receive an error when trying to run Stata/MP on my client machine?

Title   Installing Stata/MP on a Windows network
Author Kevin Crow, StataCorp
Date July 2007

When installing a network license of Stata/MP on a Windows network, you might receive one of the following errors:

  • The application failed to initialize properly. Click OK to terminate the application.
  • This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem.

These errors happen because Stata/MP requires a system DLL that may not exist on client machines. In this case, you need to download setup_mpdll.exe and run it on each client machine that you want to use Stata/MP to install the files Stata/MP needs.

Simply double-click the installer once it has downloaded to start the install.
