Stata 6: What are completely determined panels?

Title   Stata 6: Completely determined panel messages
Author James Hardin, StataCorp
Date December 1998

As the Stata 6 manuals were being written, we originally intended to track the number of completely determined observations. In fact, some manuals have messages (notes) to that effect.

However, as the likelihood of the fixed-effects and random-effects models are in terms of the panels, it is better to track the number of completely determined panels.

The interpretation of the completely determined panel is the same as for the completely determined observations. See completely determined observations in logit for a detailed explanation.
