See, for example, http://www.stata.com/statalist/archive/2009-01/msg00425.html . Issues like this, specific to Macs, may have been fixed in subsequent versions of Stata, Word, or Mac OS.

There is also the generic issue that copy-and-paste solutions are sometimes less reproducible than purely program-driven procedures, although you usually have to do some manual manipulation in Word in any case.
