Following the requests of Dirk Enzmann and others I have spent the
weekend writing an exporter from Stata to SPSS. It behaves quite well
at the moment. All the details and installation instructions can be
found here:

I welcome everybody interested to try it out and submit feedback
either to this thread or to personal email (mention -savespss- in the
subj line).
At this moment I am just puzzled why IBM engineers couldn't do the
same in a couple of hours?
