On second thoughts, I am more likely misreading the syntax than
encountering an error:

I'm looking to do something like

. mi impute chained (mlogit) var1 = a b c ///
                    (mlogit) var2 = d e f, ...

but I now think the syntax demands

. mi impute chained (mlogit) var1 ///
                    (mlogit) var2 ///
                    = a b c d e f, ...

I think I need to work with the omit() option.
