st: nl command - error#130 expression too long

Hi all,

I am having a problem with the nl command. I have a long expression I
want to maximize and therefore I am creating a function evaluator
program (as I read in another Statalist thread). Still, I keep getting
the error “error #130 occurred in evaluating expression expression too
long”. I have 177 locals. Is this a problem? Should in theory the
function evaluator program work? And if not, any ideas on what I can
do?
