You can omit -graph twoway-.

I am successfully using

graph twoway scatter y x, by(id)

to produce a graph which combines individual graphs for all id's.

The problem is that there are more graphs on the resulting combined graph
than I would like. Is there a way to restrict the number of graphs
combined to a specific number, like 6? So graphs for id's 1-6 would be
on one graph, 7-12 on another, etc.
