Subject   st: specifying marker labels in twoway scatter

Hello,

I was wondering: suppose you make a scatterplot with three points,
with:

twoway (scatter x y)

and want to label these three points/markers "A" "B" "C" , using the mlabel
option

twoway (scatter x y, mlabel(varname))

Is there a way to fill in the labels straight away, instead of first creating a
variable with the labels? for example by using a local macro or something like
that?

Kind regards,

Alex
