If -update- doesn't do the trick, I suggest that you contact Stata tech support with your licence information and details of your copy.

I cannot reproduce that error on my Stata 10.
What do you get when you type -update-? I get:

Stata executable
    folder: C:\Programme\Stata10\
    name of file: wsestata.exe
    currently installed: 01 Oct 2009

Ado-file updates
    folder: C:\Programme\Stata10\ado\updates\
    names of files: (various)
    currently installed: 20 Jan 2010

Utilities updates
    folder: C:\Programme\Stata10\utilities
    names of files: (various)
    currently installed: 18 Aug 2009

(The relevant elements are the dates)
