Any well-developed external editor will support splitting of windows.
(If this is taken to be a definition of "well-developed", that's fine by
me.) Vim is one fine example.

I would like to make a do file that opens several do files in the same
stata editor window. Is there any way to do this?

I could use doedit repeatedly but the problem is that each use of
doedit opens different stata editor windows.
