Very true. 

But I don't think Stata uses the term "standard" in any formal sense,
and 
it does have a very specific understanding of "display", so expecting
Stata to mind-read is not going to work.

If you type "findit display", ereturn display is buried somewhere in a
long list. But how does one pick it out without knowing in advance what
to look for? On the other hand, if I type "findit standard display",
"ereturn" is not even mentioned.
