I am the maintainer of -egenmore-, which is on SSC. (Please remember to
explain where user-written packages you refer to come from, as requested
in the FAQ.) I am also the author of the -rowmedian()- function (not
command) in that package.

I am not clear exactly what has bit you, but I do know that _sort() is a
built-in Mata function whose source file _sort.mata needs to be part of
the Stata installation you are using. It is not something you would
separately install or download.

Something is messed up one way or the other, and although it is easy to
deflect reports like this I suspect that the -egenmore- package files
are not the issue. You may need to contact Stata tech-support for more
help with details on your installation.

Stata 11 has an -egen, rowmedian()- function as part of the official
installation. At this point I have no idea whether it's the same as
this, but that should be immaterial.

I have one computer that is not connected to the internet. To install
the 'egenmore' package, I downloaded the new ado files to my computer
that is connected to the internet and then copied those ado files to my
secure machine. Unfortunately, when I try to run the 'rowmedian' command
I get the following error:

rowmedian(): 3499 _sort not found

I've tried replacing all of the ado files (base, update, personal, plus)
all to no avail.
