The authors of -outtable- are documented as Christopher F Baum and
Joao Pedro Azevedo.

I think Kit is thinking of -log2html- (also SSC) in attributing
authorship.

i am creating a table with descriptive stats (not regression
results!!) using the matrix command.

is there a way to put the result, which i can save as a txt document,
easily into a latex document?

If you already have the matrix, -findit outtable- (SSC: Baum, Cox,
Rising). A more comprehensive solution exists as part of Ben Jann's -
estout- package (SSC). Its web documentation (
http://repec.org/bocode/e/estout)
describes how you may use to display dstats rather than model
estimation results.
