Right-click the file, choose "open with" and then "Choose Default Program..."

Hello Martin,

Thanks very much for your response.
I did not mention that I could choose to open the SAS log file with STATA and other text editors. However, as you nailed it, if my OS is set to open the .log extension in SAS then what should I do to change this setting? Please let me know the steps in details if possible since I am quite ignorant about this.

Thanks,
Tu

Could it be that the file extensions between those two match and that your OS is set to open the .log extension in SAS instead of Stata? What does the filename.log file contain after your Stata session? Open it with Notepad or
some other text editor.
