dear all,

stata 8.2 and windows xp pro,

microsoft windows has list of mru (most recently used) files facility e.g. file -> open will launch use new data dialog box with file name box and a drop down choice containing the last 10 opened/used *.dta files and their locations. likewise with file -> save as i.e. there the drop down choice contained the last 10 saved *.dta file names and location.

is there a way to disable this automatic recording of files opened/saved with stata (e.g. a 0/1 switch somewhere in the registry relating to stata)? failing that, is there a way where one can clears the mru manually - i am thinking if the former can't be achieved then at least after each session of stata one can manually delete the mru lists associated with stata.

thank you for advice/help.

season's greetings,
bw
