Have you followed the routine on e.g.

It can be a root problem, have you tried to start stata as root?
Otherwise you can try starting stata by going into your install-directory (/usr/local/stata9/) and type "./xstata".

I installed STATA9 on Linux Fedora 9. When I started it, the system informed that "/usr/local/stata9/xstata-se: error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

Could you help me to solve this error?
