Dear Karoline:

R-squared = (TSS-RSS)/TSS, where TSS = sum of squares of y-ybar and RSS =
sum of squares of y-yhat. Sometimes this formula is presented as R-squared
= RSS/ TSS

That idea is already discussed in the FAQ which
answers your question:

9/03 How can I get an R-squared value when a Stata command
                does not supply one?
