Maarten & Keith,

Thank you so much.

I was so sure that the macro length was the problem that I didn't take a
hard enough look at my code.  There's a good Statalist lesson there... I
should have tried to replicate the problem with a standard dataset (as
Maarten did with -sysuse nlsw88-).
