I would like to have a scale from 0 to -800 and therefore tried the
following:

beamplot weight_loss, over(tank) ytitle("") xtitle ("Somatic loss (g) ")
xlabel(0 (100) -800)) by(sex)

...

Maarten and Nick explained things. I wondered, however, about:

   ... , xlabel(0(100)-800)

I guess that Anne-Christine wants a reverse x-axis scale, but
that does not happen by reversing the numeric list in xlabel().
Instead:

   ... , xlabel(-800(100)0) xscale(reverse)

Hope this helps
Svend
